Wartime Worcester

Worcester played an important part during World War Two. Being a bridging point, Worcester was to be defended to protect the back door into the Industrial areas of Birmingham and the Black Country.

See how Worcester played its part in the defence of Britain; hear about our visiting evacuees and who was the important person that was to stay in the area?
Thank you for a wonderful Christmas talk that you gave to our residents. We are learning so much from them of how they celebrated Christmas on shortages that we have arranged for an afternoon craft activity for them to help us decorate the lounge by making paper chains! Thanks again and see you soon.

Bowood Court Nursing and Residential Home

Thank you for coming to Balsall Common U3A yesterday afternoon, and particularly to Paul for his presentation on a 1940s Christmas, which brought memories flooding back for many of us who were born post WW2, and can remember many of the traditions that carries on whilst rationing continued.
